Meet Sagitta Woodman, LICSW
With over a decade of dedicated experience, Sagitta Woodman brings a unique depth of expertise in working with refugee, immigrant, and diverse communities. Her collaborations with community health centers, refugee resettlement agencies, and behavioral health providers give her a well-rounded understanding of the complex mental health needs and cultural nuances faced by migrants.
Sagitta is passionate about trauma-informed care and has shared her knowledge widely, leading workshops at Lowell Community Health Center, Edward Kennedy Community Health Center, Salve Regina University, Rhode Island College, the NASW conference in Massachusetts, and the USCIS conference in Washington, D.C.
Recognizing the critical role of language access in mental health, Sagitta developed the mental health training component for the medical interpreting program at Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island. This program ensures interpreters are fully equipped to support clients during sensitive mental health sessions.
Committed to advancing the field through education and mentorship, Sagitta champions a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to care—empowering providers, interpreters, and community members alike to foster healing and resilience in vulnerable populations.
